A dictionary of common terms used in HubSpot.

Email – an email.
Phone Call – a phone call.
Call Recording – an audio recording of a phone call. Recordings are made when you call through the DESKTOP not the app.
Call Transcription – a written transcript of a call. Produced automatically by HubSpot.
Meeting – a face to face or video meeting with another person, usually a contact.
Task – an action that a user of HubSpot has to complete.
Note – a piece of information that is typed into the CRM.
Log – creating a record of an activity that happened outside of HubSpot. You can log calls, emails, and meetings.
Contact – a person whose information is stored in the CRM.
Company – a business whose information is stored in the CRM. This might be a for-profit or non-profit entity.
Activities – all things that happen related to deals, contacts, and companies.
Deal – an opportunity or transaction (or potential transaction) between a contact and or a company that is recorded and tracked in HubSpot in a pipeline.
Contact Relationship Management CRM – system to record and report on contact, deal, and company information.
Content Management System CMS – a system for organizing and presenting information (pictures, videos, text, forms, etc.) on the world wide web.
Landing page – a web page housed in the CMS designed to get a response from a web site visitor.
CTA – call to action. A mechanism to get a response from a customer. Could be a button or a form. The CTA is the heart of the landing page.
Response Form – A form designed to get information about a contact or company. This information is used to create record in the CRM.
Contact Record – the information we have about a particular person.
Deal Record – the information we have about a deal.
Company Record – the information we have about a company.
Association – the relationship between records. Associations can be 1:1 or 1:many.
Property – an attribute of a contact, company, or deal.
Workflow – a program routine used to automate repetitive tasks like deal creation and assignment, move deals through a pipeline, change property attributes, and send emails.
Sequence – an automated series of activities and tasks that happens on behalf of a sales agent.
Template – a prewritten piece of content (usually an email) that can be customized for a particular contact.
Snippet – a small piece of text that can be added to an email.
Vidyard – HubSpot Video program to allow video to be stored and presented in HubSpot in emails and pages.
